And, as such, today, Wilco is acknowledged as one of the heavyweights of the indie scene, selling out major venues and moving a respectable number of albums. Son Volt, on the other hand, has basically released its debut album under different titles over and over again—and with decidedly mixed results.

I spoke to several people who thought the Jackson Browne solo acoustic show at UPAC in Kingston last week was just plain awful.

Like any other rock band making music today, Wilco has to deal with some haters on the internet.  

Tight and polished almost to a fault, Wilco was businesslike and efficient in nearly laying waste to Hill Auditorium on Friday with the guitar-and-keyboard onslaught that has become the band's calling card during recent years.  

The Chicago outfit has streamed every album online since 2002's game-changing masterpiece Yankee Hotel Foxtrot well before its release date, and the group supports the bootlegging and MP3-trading of its concerts.
